Santa Rosalia is the first sizable town you reach on the shores of the Sea of Cortes following Highway 1 past San Ignacio. There are some facilities here; the most noticeable is the abandoned fish plant adjacent to the highway as you drive through. Santa Rosalia is also the northern ferry terminal to the Mexican mainland(Guaymas).
