The Gulf Islands are some of the most developed islands along the British Columbia Coastline. The Gulf Islands are comprised of nine main islands and linked by ferry to either Vancouver Island or the lower mainland. They consist of Gabriola, Galiano, Mayne, Saturna, North and South Pender, Saltspring, Thetis and Kuper Islands. Due to their sheltered waters and mild climate these islands provide an excellent year round boating environment. There are many special features that can be found within the islands from the spectacular sandy beaches of Sidney Spit Provincial Park to the convoluted sandstone rock formations along the western side of Valdes Island. There are also several marine parks found throughout the islands, catering to all types of boaters and ranging in services from full facilities to primitive anchorages.
