The Sunshine Coast situated north of Vancouver is a popular recreational destination for boaters of all types. The Sechelt Inlet or "Inland Sea" provides protected waters for sea kayakers, with eight marine parks situated throughout the various inlets. Skookumchuck Narrows is noted for its strong tidal currents and attracts whitewater kayakers. Other areas that have become renown for boating along the Sunshine Coast are places like Pender Harbour, Princess Louisa Inlet, Smugglers Cove and Jervis Inlet. To the west of the Sunshine Coast, Texada and Lasqueti Islands provide a different type of boating destination providing more open waters.. These islands are situated in the centre of Georgia Strait and easily accessible from the Sunshine Coast or Vancouver Island. Jedediah Island Provincial Park, the most famous destination is situated in Sabine Channel providing a base for endless excursions in the area.
