Discovery Islands (formerly named Georga Strait North)
This area covers several prominent boating areas within in Georgia Strait besides the waters around Campbell River and Quadra Island. Two special areas are Denman and Hornby Islands situated south of Courtenay on Vancouver Island. This region has innumerable sites, from the sandy beaches and warm waters of Tribune Bay on Hornby Island, picturesque lighthouses of Chrome Island and Mudge Point to the spectacular tidal currents of Seymour Narrows and Discovery Passage. For boaters wanting something quieter, there are the Main Lakes on Quadra Island that provide an interesting side trip. To the east of Quadra Island is Octopus Islands Provincial Park, a popular destination situated between two tidal currents in Okisollo Channel with Surge Narrows to the south and Upper and Lower Rapids to the north.
