The waters surrounding Bella Bella are a boating paradise, including hundreds of islands of varying size, pocket beaches, sand dunes and rocky headlands all reached by a network of wide and narrow passages and channels. The town of Bella Bella or Waglisla is the largest community and serviced by B.C. Ferries year round. Wildlife is abundant including orcas, seals, sea lions, porpoise, river and sea otters, bald eagles and many other sea birds. Native habitation has been documented in this area for over 10,000 years with more than 130 known archeological sites. Some of the more popular destinations within the area are the Goose Group with its long sandy beaches and unique vegetation, Kildidt Inlet with a picturesque lagoon and an abundance of waterfowl and the Spider Group with its cluster of smaller islands providing protected water, spectacular scenery and an abundance of marine life.
